About Us

What is Masters Swimming?

Masters swimming is swimming for adults from 18 yrs onwards. It encompasses a range of ability from casual fitness swimming to highly organised competitive swimming. It offers members the opportunity to swim under the supervision of professionally qualified coaches to improve both stamina and technique either for entering ASA masters’ competitions, just to keep fit, or as a basis for other sports with a swimming element such as triathlon, water polo canoeing and rafting.

At Macclesfield training takes place across 8 swimming lanes. Bollington has four. You choose a lane with swimmers of a similar standard to yourself.
You will not be asked to pay a subscription for a few sessions to make sure you really enjoy the activities on offer before joining.

Competition
• Masters' swimmers who wish to enter competitions will find encouragement to enter a range of regional and national events organised by the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) around the country but a number of them take place at Macclesfield Leisure Centre which is one of the best short course (25m) competition pools in the country.
• Masters' competitions are normally organised so that swimmers compete against other swimmers of similar age and ability.
• Masters' swim training also equips people to enter a range of water related events such as Bi and Tri-athlons, Canoeing, rafting etc.
